The scholars of literature and culture, philology and linguistics at LILEC coordinate their research from a perspective that transcends Europe’s borders; they collaborate with numerous international networks, primarily in the humanities, making the department a vibrant hub and a dynamic Laboratory embedded within the social, local, regional and national context, in line with the university’s Third Mission.
Knowledge from the humanities to understand and shape today’s world
In our Department, Research and teaching are conceived as activities aimed at fostering pathways of social innovation: the humanities can and must play an active and proactive role.
We put UNESCO’s principles of Global Citizenship Education into practice through innovative and cross-disciplinary curriculum approaches, encouraging the younger generations to reflect on human rights, inclusion, gender diversity and equal opportunities, sustainable development and social equity.
Our vision is ambitious: through literary, linguistic, cultural and philological knowledge and expertise, we can help foster a new mindset that puts people at the centre.
This fosters a fulfilling working environment and interpersonal relationships that can reshape current geopolitical dynamics to help create a fair, sustainable and happy world.
