Symposium Description
The third Postgraduate Symposium on Linguacultural Spaces: Inclusion, Extension and
Identification in Discourse and Society builds on the solid collaboration between
academics at CeSLiC (Centre for Linguistic and Cultural Studies) at the Department of
Modern Languages, University of Bologna (LILEC), the School of Critical Studies and the
School of Modern Languages and Cultures (Language and Society Cluster), University of
Glasgow, and the Department of Culture Studies, School of Humanities and Digital
Sciences, Tilburg University. The current Symposium is an opportunity to enhance the
collaboration between these four institutions, all with an active research culture in the
sociolinguistics of diversity and inclusion.
However, based on a current trend supported by the Dutch Scientific Council (NWO), in this
third symposium, we aim to attach a much wider meaning to the word ‘inclusion’.
It is for this reason that Bo.Gla.Til. 2023 wishes to tackle Linguacultural Spaces from an
interdisciplinary angle focusing primarily, yet not exclusively, on language. Therefore, we
have invited postgraduate students from each institution to present work in progress in the
area of diversity and inclusion from a sociolinguistic interdisciplinary perspective that aims

at building empirically grounded bridges across different humanities-based disciplines and
their respective methodological traditions.
